Office Software Protection Platform Service 1003 Freeze
Hi JonnyR and welcome to TSG. My name is Mark and I will be helping you. Your systems shows evidence of more than one Anti Virus, Avast, Lavasoft and MSE. You should only have one Anti Virus running on your system. Running more than one Anti Virus can slow system performance, cause conflicts and actually reduce your systems security level. This could easily be the cause of all your problems so we will start with uninstalling two of them.
Adaware is no longer recommended so that should go, MSE and Avast are both good programs but If I had to choose one I would keep MSE and uninstall Avast. Click on Start >Control Panel >Programs and Features. Locate Avast and Lavasoft Adaware from the list and click on each one in turn and then select Uninstall. When complete run this tool: Then follow this guide and remove any Adaware related files left in the system: Once done reboot the PC. Open up MSE and under the update tab click on the Update button. It shows many entries in your error log that it has repeatedly failed to update correctly so we need to see that it now works.
To disable the 'Software Protection' service of Windows 7, follow the below procedure: Click on Start >type 'services.msc' in the search field and press enter. In the 'Services' window, look for the following entry: Software Protection Double click.
Once done run the PC for a while and tell me how well it is performing and describe any remaining issues. There are some items that need updating, please run this scan and post the log. Download Security Check by screen317 from. Save it to your Desktop. Double click SecurityCheck.exe (Vista or Windows 7 users right click and select 'Run as Administrator') and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
Press any key when asked. A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document. Hi mark, thanks for helping me out. I've removed those two anti virus programs. MSE updated fine and is up to date it says.
The computer doesn't seem to be running any better, it still takes a long time to open simple things like IE, youtube, steam and other things. It also froze for about 10 mintes when trying to install a game and also while watching a video on youtube. Ok, we do have some updates to do but first we shall deal with you performance problem. I see you have Malwarebytes on the system. Please follow these instructions to run a scan with it. Please run Malwarebytes and post the log as follows: • Open Malwarebytes and allow it to update with the latest definitions, then run a Quick Scan.
• When finished, a message box will say ' The scan completed successfully. Click Show Results to display all objects found'.
• Click OK to close the message box, then click the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found. • Make sure that everything is checked and then click Remove Selected. • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab.
• Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows the database version and your operating system. • Exit Malwarebytes when done. If Malwarebytes encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
Failure to reboot normally will prevent Malwarebytes from removing all the malware. That is a great result, looks like Malwarebytes has cleaned up the infection. For a deeper check please follow the instructions below to run Combofix. Please tell me in your next reply how the system is performing now, any more issues?
STEP 1 NOTE: If you have already used Combofix please delete the icon from your desktop. • Please download and save it to your desktop. • Once downloaded, double-click on the DeFogger icon to start the tool. • The application window will appear. • You should now click on the Disable button to disable your CD Emulation drivers. • When it prompts you whether or not you want to continue, please click on the Yes button to continue.
• When the program has completed you will see a Finished! Click on the OK button to exit the program. • If CD Emulation programs are present and have been disabled, DeFogger will now ask you to reboot the machine. Please allow it to do so by clicking on the OK button. STEP 2 Please download ComboFix from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop. Do NOT use ComboFix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is a powerful tool intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an expert, NOT for general public or personal use. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to serious problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. This site, sUBs and myself will not be responsible for any damage caused to your machine by misusing or running ComboFix on your own. Ok, please run the following scans and post the logs. Please download and save it to your Desktop.
• Double click on aswMBR.exe to run it. Vista/ Windows 7 users right-click and select.
• You will be asked if you wish to download the latest Avast Virus Definitions, please select Yes. It may take several minutes to complete. • Click the Scan button to start scan.
• On completion of the scan, click the Save log button and save it to your Desktop. • Do not select any Fix options at this time. • Copy and paste the contents of that log in your next reply. -- Important note: Upon the first run, aswMBR will back up the MBR and save it to the Desktop as MBR.dat.
Do not delete this file unless advised. NOTE: Right-click on MBR.dat and select Send To and then Compressed (zipped) file. Attach that zipped file to your next reply as well. • Below the Message Box click on Go Advanced. Then scroll down until you see a button, Manage Attachments. Click on that and a new window opens.
• Click on the Browse button, find the zip folder you made earlier and doubleclick on it. • Now click on the Upload button.
Wait for the Upload to complete, it will appear just below the Browse box. • When done, click on the Close this window button at the bottom of the page. • Enter your message-text in the message box, then click on Submit Message/Reply. ___________________________________________________________________ Please follow the instructions exactly as written, deviating from the instructions and trying to fix anything before I have seen the logs may make your PC unbootable.
If TDSSKiller does not offer the Cure option DO NOT select delete as you may remove files needed for the system to operate. Please download Kaspersky's and save it to your Desktop. Reboot computer for cure completion.
->If Cure is not available, please choose Skip instead. Do not choose Delete unless instructed.
If you choose Delete you may remove critical system files and make your PC unstable or possibly unbootable. • A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C: ). • Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply. -- If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it. To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the.com file extension (i.e. If you do not see the file extension, please refer to these. In some cases it may be necessary to redownload TDSSKiller and randomly rename it to something else before beginning the download and saving to the computer or to perform the scan in '.

Or read our to learn how to use this site. I am desperate for help. I have never had such an extreme problem with my computer.
At this point, I am not sure if the issue is malware or a Windows problem. My problems first started when my son downloaded Minecraft on my computer. It started to go very slow with anything I tried to do.
I was having trouble going online. I tried system restore to go back to a point prior to Mine craft being uploded. After the restore, I still had long pauses with everything I tried to do. Yesterday, I had a response that said 'illegal operperation of a registry key marked for deletion.' I was also getting something saying process could not run, do I want to end process. I manged to get to bleeping computer, so I ran TdssKiller and combo fix (sorry I jumped the gun.
It just takes so long to get anything done, so I seized the opportunity--the log is below) after long freezes. I shut my computer and could not get notepad or word to open to copy the results to post. After trying and failing to get anything done I had to shut the computer to leave work. I was going to try again to get the combo fix log, so I turned on the computer. Before going to the homescreen, ckdsk ran so I let it finish scanning. I saw it was deleting files and 'correcting errors'. Well, I didn't think it could get worse: it took about 20 minutes to connect to the internet, I can't open anything and I got the following messages: 'the remote procedure call failed and did not execute' and a box that says: Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 2.0 stopped working.
Please try restarting Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 2.0. Greetings Leslie and to BleepingComputer's Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal forum. My name is Oh My! And I am here to help you! Now that we are 'friends' please call me Gary. =================================================== Ground Rules: • First, I would like to inform you that most of us here at Bleeping Computer offer our expert assistance out of the goodness of our hearts. Please try to match our commitment to you with your patience toward us.
If this was easy we would never have met. • Please do not run any tools or take any steps other than those I will provide for you while we work on your computer together. I need to be certain about the state of your computer in order to provide appropriate and effective steps for you to take. Most often 'well intentioned' (and usually panic driven!) independent efforts can make things much worse for both of us. If at any point you would prefer to take your own steps please let me know, I will not be offended. I would be happy to focus on the many others who are waiting in line for assistance.
• Please perform all steps in the order they are listed in each set of instructions. Some steps may be a bit complicated. If things are not clear, be sure to stop and let me know. We need to work on this together with confidence. • Please copy and paste all logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems simply stop and tell me.
• When you post your reply, use the button instead. • In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see the button. Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response. • If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it. • When your computer is clean I will alert you of such.
I will also provide for you detailed information about how you can combat future infections. • I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. • Now let's get started =================================================== Now that I am assisting you, you can expect that I will be very responsive to your situation. If you are able, I would request you check this thread at least once per day so that we can try to resolve your issues effectively and efficiently.
